Starving in Paradise. Mission trip to the village of Ca’Ira in Haiti.

Haiti Mission Trip

I recently traveled to Haiti to help with the relief effort and wanted to share with you a bit about my trip. I went with UGA, State, and University of Kentucky Greeks with the organization Intervarsity, we call it Greek IV. My team went to the village Ca’Ira in Haiti where we worked moving rubble of a fallen orphanage and showed love to those who lost loved ones in the earthquake. The situation in Haiti is devastating. The rubble is still so apparent because their government does not have the funds to bring in the necessary removal machines. Many kids lost their entire families. To see their love for us coming and helping, really assured my realization of what is truly important in life. Haitians are amazing people. Their unwillingness to let such a tragedy break their community amazes me. They lift each other up constantly with positive comments while sharing everything, even their food-paste nourishment packs. Their starving stomachs would rather feed us Americans than digest any ounce of nourishment out of their gratefulness and appreciation for our help. These actions just showed the kind of people they are. Living in the United States is an amazing blessing, and as broken as my heart was for the Haitians, I realize now it is my job to be an advocate for them.

Alpha Omicron Pi’s Formal was this weekend in Atlanta, GA at the Omni Hotel. It was truly impeccable. I love all of my sorority sisters.

“The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.”  ~St. Augustine

This quote inspired me to start a blog incorporating bits and pieces of the trips I take. I love to travel and thought I should share my discoveries, fears, and adventures with you all. From now on I am going to update this blog as I travel the world. I may go back and add some pictures and videos of places I have been before acquiring this new found blog, we shall see.
